The Legend of Joe Pino

Yes, just follow the link and prepared to be confused. http://lanzallamas.com/artificial/img_pop/joepino.gif

Comments:
The link you really want is here. If you want to see what this article is about go here.

My student's have been all over this since it came out. The puppets are pretty funny, but I'm a little worried about the Nazis and the Klan.

Their other favorite thing to try and sneak into projects is lines from SIDEWAYS, which has about ten thousand lines like "We MUST have Pinot!!!".

This is about that rogue Grape Wrestling leaugue you were in back in 95, right?

Well, after checking that second link Joe sent, it is obviously not about Grape Wrestling....

That is the best song that I've heard in my entire life

Ian has this memory fetish now that he spends all his weekends meeting up with old HS friends and drinking red wine whereby he sets aside a glass and says stuff like "Don't touch that, it's Joe's pinot" or "Leave that alone, that Pino's pinot vino" or "Let It Be, that glass of pinot is Waiting For Pinot". It's very weird.

Do I have to Pee? No- I don't.

Does foam start with the letter P? No, no it doesn't.

What rhymes with "No Beano"?

I like the piucture of the monkey covering his eyes with the caption underneath that says "Pino evil"

Joe, what do you mean "If you want to see what this article is about" What's it about? Does anyone speak Spanish? I'm very confused.

But I watched the video three times because the tune is catchy and I love-love-LOVE the spinning puppets. LOVE them.

The article in the first link is about Joe Pino and Opinologia, which seems to be an movement based in Chile They have a website and it looks like the administraters post a topic and people blog in opinions. I'm not sure what the net result is supposed to be or what it is supposed to achieve - my Spanish is pretty bad. Joe Pino is a band or a person, I'm unclear. I thought it was a band punning on Yo Pino/Joe Pino-- "Yo pino" means "I believe" -- but at the end of the video it's credited to Joe Pino and the Manic Depressives. The video in the second link is from 31 minutes, which seems to be South American show and is the song "Yo Pino" that the article seems to be referencing.

I think. One of my Venezuelan students is supposed to be getting the poop for me this summer when she's home.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me, but then Ian was always the political one of our group.

Interesting. Okay. Let us know when you know. I love a good mystery, even better when it's solved.

I'll bet the "Yo Pino" video was done by some Chileans who grew up together going to the same high school and attended the same theatre classes. They did this as an attempt at absurdist humor that mocks their friends and lambastes the political leaders of their country. And they just wanted to be popular.

Just a thought.

Joe- did Kim really say "I love a good mystery, even better when it's solved."?

What?

Marta will translate if you want?

She first wants to know why Joe is so in love with puppets and pirates? Is it an alliteration thing... pino, puppets and pirates, oh my.

To answer Ian's question:
Yes, that's what she said. I always said we needed a girl in the Mystery Solvers.

To answer Ginger:
Puppets are funny and scary.
Pirates are cool.
And alliteration is alway a plus in any situation.

Kim- we used to do a very strange long-form improv on a college radio comedy show. The show was called The Comedy Police and the sketches were called The Mystery Solvers and they starred three superheroes: Lintman, Weasel Boy and the Human Callus fighting their arch nemisis Dr. Steuben Void and his Giant 3D Android Slugs From Hell. Each episode lasted about ten minutes and it involved the Mystery Solvers trying to solve mysteries and figh bad guys. They mysteries got solved, but never in any way due to actions by the Mystery Solvers. Their motto was "We Figure Things Out!" Hansmann guest starred one episode. Eric- what was your character's name?

I don't know if Eric ever guested as a Mystery Solver. He was Lima Bean on "Pez & Lazlo" and he was the sportsman looking for the great American freshwater slug (aided by his sidekick Fanny). But I don't remember him solving any mysteries. Eric?

Hey....it's all a mystery to me now.

I vaguely recall the Lima Bean bit, and Pez & Lazlo. I think I used a high cracking voice. Possibly all the characters did.

I recall Funny Men Named Bruce stuff like the Library Police.

But I don't think I was a "Mystery Solver".

sooxr is my verification word. Used in a sentance - "That kinda sooxr."

Sounds like fun, AND scary.

Yo Pino/Joe Pino-- "Yo opino" means "I believe". and is a puppet from a very popular show for kids in Chile (31 minutos). And lanzallamas.com is a chilean literary e-zine.
