Video with a nice NC vibe

-Connells are out of Raleigh
-Other big pop star out of there was KC (of the Sunshine Band)
-Other big name out of Broughton HS is Shavlik Randolph (tanked at Duke, went pro against everyone's advice, wasn't drafted but now sees good time playing for the Phila 76ers)
-Athens GA (Chapel Hill South) of course gave us REM, B-52s and Pylon
-who's big in Squirrel Hill, Morganton, or Northern Jersey (besides Bon Jovi)?

Comments:
I always get a kick out of the crowd The Clarks draw at Kelly's in Nags Head! No one in NC knows who they are, but all of the Pittsburghers show up! There's always room on the dance floor...unlike their "standing room only" gigs here in PA. They usually hit the OBX twice each summer.

Well, first of all, Liza and I are in CENTRAL Jersey, thenk you. But there are so many countless Jersey bands that it's almost hard to tell. Of course, Springsteen, Asbury Park being a scant half hour from here. And as you say, Bon Jovi, about 15 minutes. (Nothing is in miles here, only time.)

Anyway, I loved this video, thanks.

Squirrel Hill was the boyhood home of Jules Shear, a highly underrated songwriter and the creator of a little TV show called MTV Unplugged. When it was his show, it was him and a couple of invited guests jamming on each other's tunes. As it started to get popular they dumped him .

E-man will back me up when I say he's pretty great.

Jules Shear is beyond great. Way beyond.

As for the Connells, I saw them when they played WVU way back when and had their moment of popularity on the college radio station. They had some tuneful jangle pop songs.

But they ain't no Jules Shear.

But Jules Shear ain't no KC and the Sunshine Band.

Thankfully, no he isn't.
