I just wanted to see if I could actually connect to the blog! I think I did it!

I caught this one on a lure...it's a big secret down there on the Bonner Bridge! I really love the sub-culture of people who make fishing a big part of the OBX lifestyle. Our mantra is "Give 'em Steel!"
Anybody else an OBX person? Do Eric J and Julie still go to Southern Shores?

I love the Outer Banks- we used to go to Corolla a lot. Now, I go further down whenever I can to Topsail Beach.
I have been trying, for the last ten years, to figure out a way to live at the beach..

Oh and I actually caught a cow-nosed sting ray while surf fishing at Corolla once. True story. But it scared me to death to touch it.
I love surf-fishing, too! I hate to catch rays and skates...ugh!!!! Richard (my husband) and I are brainstorming ways to make the OBX our home. The time isn't quite right, yet, but maybe someday...
My brother, Scott, teaches a violin class at Cape Hatteras HS via the television. He teaches at the North Carolina School for Science and Math in Durham. They have a live-feed (this is completely wrong terminology, I know) so that he can communicate with his students.
Did you ever eat at the Lone Cedar Cafe on the causeway between Manteo and Nags Head? I was the Tuesday night deck bar music for two summers (I know, I know...definitely not a headliner! Anyway, that's where we were married in June.

I don't think so, but I spent an evening in summer 1980 (during the Hollywood writers strike) heckling Andy Griffith at a bar in Nags Head near the bridge.
I didn't drink in those days, so heckling was my form of bar entertainment.

Andy is a very good friend of the owner of the Lone Cedar (Senator Marc Basnight of the NC State Senate). The Basnights added a room on to the restaurant so that Andy could eat there without anyone bothering him (no kidding!!!! You may have made history there, Ian!!!!) The "Andy" room is the room that we used for our very small wedding reception (15 people). I have only seen him there once (Sunday brunch), although my mom and dad have seen him several times.
There is a great big bar in the middle of the restaurant...it's all paneled in knotty pine, and the restaurant/bar is right by a bridge...could it be the infamous bar where you did your heckling????
Also, did you know that Randy Exton spent at least one summer as the Costumer for the Lost Colony production? I think Scott Tedford was there for a while, also. Have you heard any news on these former Sendracians???
Incidentally, Andy Griffith was Sir Walter Raleigh for several summers in the Lost Colony productions.

yeah, that's why I was at a bar with "Anj." I was working at the famous/infamous Lost Colony. It was the summer of the writer's strike so he was hanging out in Manteo- backstage at the Colony and the powers that be threw him a party and they made all us peons come too- and made us pay for our own dinners.
I had one line "stop that man"- I was 18 and it was my first professional gig and it felt like the big time!

Wow! Lots of new comments since I left to spend three days with the sixth graders in the Butler County woods this week!
Ian...I'm sorry I missed your debut at the LC! I spent the same summer (I think) singing with a folk group in KDH. It was a disaster, but that's another story...
Gracie...Your fishing trips sound fantastic! I am asking for a new rod and reel for Xmas! The pub by the Wright Memorial is the Outer Banks Brewing Station, I think! They do have righteous music. My favorite is my buddy Mojo Collins...a lifetime bluesman. Sorry I'll miss you at T-giving!
Ron...is Eric and Julie's house in Southern Shores? I'll look 'em up when I'm down there next. Also, Ron...I just did a campfire on Thursday night...I always think of your famous TYC productions! GREAT memories!
