Chambana Style

The recent passing of Dan Fogelberg and Jerry Hadley ...
...inspires this gallery of the good, bad, ugly, and unlikely who grew up, passed through, dropped out, or graduated here on the way to fame or infamy. (Bunnies and Robert Plant included only by association.)

Comments:
I played "Netherlands" incessantly for a while in college. I also loved "Twin Sons of Different Mothers". I guess I missed that Fogelberg had died. Thanks Jeff.

Hi Nell. There was probably more coverage of Fogelberg around here. He wasn't here long but he was a freshman theater major when he started playing at the Red Herring coffeehouse down the street from where I work. Irving Azoff, an agent who also went to Univ. of Illinois (and who helped out another local act: REO Speedwagon), got to know him and invited him to California to start his career. Before he left, Fogelberg got himself kicked out of a frat because he painted the walls in a kind of MC Escher maze style. I wasn't a big fan but there're a couple of songs (esp. Longer) that send me back to IHS days after about two notes.
