Spring Holidays

If you celebrate any of the Spring holidays (Easter, Passover, Aboakyere, etc.), how are they different from the way your family celebrated when you were a child?

What are you glad to be rid of?

What do you miss?

Comments:
My family celebrates Easter. It is probably the one holiday we celebrate pretty much exactly as we did when I was growing up.

Food is of course the big factor. I almost always serve asparagus these days, which I don't remember having frequently as a child. I also traditionally make what I think is a fabulously delicious raspberry-chocolate cheesecake--something I didn't have growing up. Besides the fact that my mother wasn't big on desserts, unbelievably I didn't like cheesecake as a kid. Luckily my kids are different than me in that regard.

We would always visit my grandparents on Easter. They're gone now so we can't do that. My grandmother crocheted colorful coverings for those ubiquitous plastic Easter eggs and always had a huge basketful of them on her coffee table. It's my good fortune to have acquired those beautiful eggs. They now adorn my own coffee table along with some additional eggs I've crocheted.
