How wonderful to click on this page and see such a gorgeous display! Thanks, Nell. That was a pleasant start to the day. I'm having company tomorrow so I'm spending the day cooking and making my famous flag cake (well, famous in my family)...also I've required my kids to be home at 8:30 this evening so we can go see the fireworks together. What are the rest of you doing?

For those of you who are fans of American's pastime, today marks the 70th anniversary of Lou Gehrig's famous speech. MLB is commemorating the event with ALS awareness/fundraisers.
 

My theatre has been hosting a parade, picnic and musical patriotic salute to America for 12 years.

Today was a charming slice of small hometown Americana.
