Hey Dawhnah! Younz lose a glove? AAwwwhhh.

So surreally inane it becomes transcendentally stupid. During the NPR interview, Ms. Gooch's beatific certainty about her bittersweet mission had weird Art Student written all over it.

This had been around for a while...

Please accept with no obligation, implied or implicit, my best wishes for an environmentally conscious, socially responsible, low-stress, non-addictive, gender-neutral celebration of the winter solstice holiday, practiced within the most enjoyable traditions of the religious persuasion of your choice, or secular practices of your choice, with respect for the religious/secular persuasion and/or traditions of others, or their choice not to practice religious or secular traditions at all. I also wish you a fiscally successful, personally fulfilling and medically uncomplicated recognition of the onset of the generally accepted calendar year 2008, but not without due respect for the calendars of choice of other cultures whose contributions to society have helped make America great. Not to imply that America is necessarily greater than any other country nor the only America in the Western Hemisphere. Also, this wish is made without regard to the race, creed, color, age, physical ability, religious faith or sexual preference of the wishee.

Aww, heck. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

As I always say, May the very BEST day of 2007 be your very worst day of 2008.

Love to you all. I miss you.
Ginger

A Little Christmas Dance for You

Every year I asked for "stock cars"

Do you guys remember the "independent" films that would sometimes show up at an Indiana movie theater?- stuff like this or "In Search of Historic Jesus" or whatever that series was about how aliens visited earth and earthlings made the Easter Island statues for them.

I'm talking early seventies - about the time of thr Billy Jack movies.

I never got the stock cars. One year I got "computer football"- which I'm not sure how it worked- I can assure you there was no 'computer' in it.

Chambana Style

The recent passing of Dan Fogelberg and Jerry Hadley ...
...inspires this gallery of the good, bad, ugly, and unlikely who grew up, passed through, dropped out, or graduated here on the way to fame or infamy. (Bunnies and Robert Plant included only by association.)

Holiday Concert Season

Just stopping in to say Hi!

How's the concert season going? I have my Eisenhower concert today, then I'm off to Fredericksburg,VA to sing the soprano solos for two presentations of Messiah this weekend.

Amazingly enough, I am now the choral/vocal coach for the IHS spring production of The Wizard of Oz, with Gretchen Kunst Barbor directing.

Hope everybody is well and having a wonderful holiday!

Monday coffee break

The drummer is Morgan Agren -- easily one of the best drummers in the known universe. He used to have a tv show where he gave drum lessons. The keyboard player is Mats Öberg, whose playing always makes me smile.

Oh, fwiw, Morgan spends a good portion of his time drumming with death metal bands. This is one of my all time favorite YouTube clips, which I think I posted here before.

Mr Show - The Audition

Tim rightfully shamed me into bloggin'. (but mostly he called me "dog")

Sorry I haven't been bloggin' recently- please no one take it personally- it's just my own way of being a jerk-faced jerk.

Just working through a bit of life these days. ewwwwwwwww!!

This is a wicked awesome clip from the old Mr. Show.

Joe used to do a bit in college called "don't start my minute yet" which this is a direct rip off of.

Indiana Alum

Who remembers this guy from Mr. Grove's Astronomy class? He was so quiet back then, really, really shy. I remember thinking in gym class that Goebbels wasn't so much effeminate as just a "spaz."

But you gotta admit, he was hilarious as Snoopy in You're a Good Man Charlie Brown.

Anybody remember his nickname? I'll give you a hint- it ended with "____lips"

for those scared by the film posted

Wisdom, as Forwarded by Ginger

As I've Matured...

I've learned that you cannot make someone love you. All you can do is
stalk them and hope they panic and give in...

I've learned that one good turn gets most of the blankets.

I've learned that no matter how much I care, some people are just
jackasses.

I've learned that it takes years to build up trust, and it only takes
suspicion, not proof, to destroy it.

I've learned that whatever hits the fan will not be evenly distributed.

I've learned that you shouldn't compare yourself to others -
they are more screwed up than you think.

I've learned that depression is merely anger without enthusiasm.

I've learned that it is not what you wear; it is how you take it off.

I've learned that you can keep vomiting long after you think you're
finished.

I've learned to not sweat the petty things, and to not pet the sweaty things.

I've learned that ex's are like fungus, they keep coming back.

I've learned age is a very high price to pay for maturity.

I've learned that I don't suffer from insanity, I enjoy it.

I've learned that we are responsible for what we do,
unless we are celebrities.

I've learned that artificial intelligence is no match for natural
stupidity.

I've learned that 99% of the time when something isn't working
in your house, one of your kids did it

I've learned that there is a fine line between genius and insanity.

I've learned that the people you care most about in life are taken
from you too soon and
all the less important ones just never go away.
And the real pains in the ass are permanent.
