My Last Big Summer Fling

First, there was the big hoo-ha at Tom's Pizza. That blur at the bottom of the picture was a raindrop...it rained all week-end. We had a good time at Tom's. The service took forever, but the pizza was excellent. Square cut!

Then, we (Ian and I, and our kids) invaded Chez Coleman. Joe showed up at 10:00 PM. We did this really unique thing: looked at old yearbooks. We laughed a lot and made fun of each other. And maybe of you. Then we took the obligatory blog photo. When taking this picture, Joe and Ian were making up the theme song to a club they claimed to belong to in Junior High. I can't say the name of it, it's too politically incorrect. But we were laughing like idiots.

Finally, I went to the Indiana Mall (you can see we deliberately left "Mall" in the pic) to meet with Ted Hurd and Thom and Deedee Bukosky of Pleasant Valley Playhouse fame. Thom brought a bunch of old pictures of PVP shows - WOW, were they fun to look at. Also, it was just great to see the three of them again.

Of course, I did other things that week-end (the muddy Indiana County Fair, very high on the list) but that was with my extended family, so it probably won't interest you. This was a great way to end a summer that was filled with my new and old best friends. Fall gathering, anyone?

Comments:
The subtext behind every smile on those kids is "is this s**t FU-ed or what?" I say we tell them that next year we're all going on a Tabish-themed Carnival Cruise together with lots of dramatic scene readings, kum-bay-yah singing and no Gameboy.

Any chance of getting the PVP motherlode from Thom and posting the most embarassing stuff?

I did ask Thom to scan some things, so we'll see.

PS, the kids had a great time, too.

I'm sure. Tell them we're redoing The Sound of Music, any child under 16 will be cast as a von Trapp, and a small, bearded man will turn their summer into tween Hell. And the only food served during rehearsals will be Tom's Pizza dim sum. No Gameboy. No reality TV.

Gee Tim, those years of pediatric surgery really have worked. You can look at my kids on the web and issue an exact diagnosis!

As far as the club Joe and Ian belonged to in Jr. High, we had a couple of Don's friends over the next night--and they were in the same club! It was an amazing coincidence. If you wanted to see a strange looking teen smile...

WOW.
Do I ever feel like chopped liver.

Janine, why? I sent you several e-mails about getting together in July and you never responded at all. I mean, not at ALL. So I guess I assumed you were not interested in getting together. Otherwise, I would have e-mailed about last week-end, too.

Tim, I am stopping in Elon on my move south and it is not far from Siler City,"Chopped Liver Janine" care to join?

ANYONE want to see Tim's dogs? I sure do! What are you doing next Sunday??

Which w/e? This Sunday I'm on call, next Sunday you can help me mow grass.

NEXT weekend. I am loading the truck Friday, driving to Elon Saturday, playing with you between rows of tobacco Sunday, and then head’n on to the south of Georgia.

I guess we should just email each other, unless anyone else wants to come along for the fun. Later baby.

Wish I could be there, but my sister and I are taking my mother on a cruise. I do want to meet Tim's dogs, though.
