I get the biggest kick out of myspace and facebook and the like. I would do these things, too, if enough of my friends did them. I don't blame the teens.
One thing that is really interesting is how the teens' public internet personas match with how they appear in real life - which is not at all. They always appear cooler, edgier, and more bad-assed in general on the internet.
