Tabishfeststockpalooza II: The Revenge of Tab
From the input posted on the blog- and looking at our schedule, I'm going to suggest a couple of dates for Tabishfeststockpalooza II. Mostly, I'm trying to find a date before June 23 when we're doing As You Like It (the show I'm directing) and not Henry V (which I'm not directing).The best date of all seems to be Saturday, June 2- I figure that way people can come up/down on Saturday and still make it home on Sunday evening. (plus it's the second night of the run- and the first weekend we usually don't sell many tickets- enabling me to paper the house with my old friends. And you thought the days of my using you for my personal gain were over!)
A Backup would be Sunday, June 10. We do the Sunday shows at 5:00 and they're billed as family performances- so if people want to bring kids, etc... it's a real fun family atmosphere. My concern would be people getting home in time for work Monday morning.
I offer two other dates which will probably be less good: Friday, (I don't imagine Friday nights would be the best) or Saturday, June 23 which is our doubleheader- we're doing both shows Henry V at 4:00 and then As You Like It at 8:00. It's a big party and we will sell out so there will be tons of people, but it might be a little late in the season for Dave & Irene.
Also- a reminder- we perform outdoors and weather forces us to cancel about 15% of our shows- so you might all miss out on the show- but I figure then we can all go somewhere and chat and have fun and visit and that might even be more fun.
Input? Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

I like the Saturday date, 6/2. Is a backstage tour part of the VIP package, where an intern talks about stuff like "the fourth wall", "the wings" and how sound design is the easiest part of the show to create?

Eric, I think the Niederriters just like to fish. Sort of like you visiting someone and asking if there are any good CD stores in the area.

in regards to a backstage tour- no way, the actors drink heavily before each show and they don't like anyone to see that. However, if you would like to watch the director drink heavily, that could probably be arranged.

"High Fidelity" comes way to close to a reality I once knew. It was all the more painful to watch the year after I closed my store.

Fishing and canonical literature by dead white men is well-described, google "you spigotty anglease" for more on the connection.
The specific language Tim describes is known as Angler-American, known to be spoken by a handful of dead white men who like to fish, a large percentage of whom, it turns out, were bumped off by the mob (cf. the famous "he sleeps with the fishes" line in *Godfather*).
Somewhere in this conversation the fishing women were omitted (even though Gracie started it!), leaving me to assume that Angler-American is a language known only to dead white men. Fishing women are known as Fishin' Chix (google that one...honest!), and they are very much alive and...ummm...splashing! Some are even known to fish in bikinis (seen on the Outdoor Channel at 10:30 last Saturday night) an unbelievable revelation to this fishing chick, since the thought of wrestling a 38 inch striper while wearing a bikini is a potentially painful and slimy proposition.
I think I missed something. Maybe I'm confused. Is this a "Let's see Ian's show" weekend or is it a weekend fishing expedition?
Well then by all means if you need to use fishing as a reason to see the show. I only need to jump in my car and drive down. I'm equally comfortable flying solo as with an entourage.
The kids' schedules as well as some family obligations are what is keeping me from being able to commit to a definite date now. It will sort itself out closer to June. I am a very focused individual.
